250 jaar nieuwe muziek
In tijden van onzekerheid over het voortbestaan van een rijk geschakeerd muzikaal leven in Nederland slaan drie vooraanstaande muziekensembles de handen ineen en presenteren de concertserie Nieuws van het Front. Het Ives Ensemble, de Van Swieten Society en het Asko Kamerkoor spelen in de oudste Concertzaal van Nederland repertoire dat in zijn eigen tijd als vernieuwend gold; of het nu om muziek uit de 18e ,19e, 20e of de 21e eeuw gaat.

Dat doe je niet met een muziekinstrument...
Een viool is om op te strijken. Of te plukken. Maar niet om op te schrapen, te kloppen, te vegen en te krassen. Een piano heeft toetsen om te bespelen en het is niet de bedoeling dat je de andere onderdelen als klankvoortbrengers beschouwt. Toch is dat precies wat in dit programma gebeurt.
Alle instrumenten worden continu bespeeld op een manier die de 'echte' klassieke musicus de haren te berge zouden kunnen doen rijzen. Toch zal op dit concert blijken dat met deze onorthodoxe speelmanieren hele fascinerende en mooie muziek gecomponeerd wordt.
