Beyond The Wall
Conference Beyond The Wall will be held in Belgrade (Palace Serbia and in Grad - European centre for culture and debate) from 13 - 16 December 2009, on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary since the fall of the Berlin Wall. Participants on the conference are Ivan Vujacic (former ambassador to Serbia in the United States), Jacques Rupnik (professor at the College of Europe, Bruges), Tim Judah (correspondent for the Balkans, magazine The Economist), Pierre Mirel (Director of the European Commission Directorate General for Enlargement), Ivan Čolović (anthropologist, University of Belgrade) and many others. The conference will be opened by Mr. Prime Minister of Republic of Serbia Mirko Cvetković.
The Beyond the Wall program will officially begin on Sunday 13th December, 18.30 hrs, at the opening of the photo exhibition 'The European Parliament - The Future Archives', where Slovak photographer Martin Kolar skillfully captures what happens when the system changes from socialism to capitalism, combining concerns about loss of national identity.
