Honorary doctorate for Nele Hertling (Permanent Fellow Felix Meritis)
Nele Hertling, Permanent Fellow of the Felix Meritis Foundation, has been awarded by the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University with a honorary doctor’s degree in drama and dance for her outstanding work in the research, promotion, production and presentation of modern dance in Europe and beyond.
She presented her thesis History and present of dance as an art form to professors and post-graduate students during a series of lectures at the drama and dance department of the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University in the last week of March.
Nele Hertling has a degree in German Culture and Theatre Studies. She has been a.o. researcher associate at the Academy of Arts in Berlin, artistic director of ‘Berlin Cultural Capital of Europe 1988', director of the Hebbel Theatre in Berlin, artistic director of the ‘Theater der Welt' festival, head of the DAAD 's Artists in Berlin programme and in 2006, she was elected vice-president of the Academy of Arts in Berlin.
