The Gentle Art of Iconology. Some Thoughts and Afterthoughts
A pioneer in the field, Professor Eddy de Jongh, has spend almost half a century studying the iconology of seventeenth-century Dutch art. In his lecture he will discuss his own triumphs and failures in the field as well as respond to criticism of the iconological method.
This lecture will conclude the summer course Dutch Art of the Golden Age: Sources and Perspectives, which has been organised by The Rijksmuseum, The Netherlands Institute for Art History and The Amsterdam-Maastricht Summer University.
