Shaffy reunion: 1968 – 1988

On 16 November we will relive the atmosphere of 20 years of legendary Shaffy Theater, the theatre where everything was possible. For the employees, working in Shaffy was not a real job, but a feast. There were no complaints about the poor terms of employment or the poor wages, and nobody had heard of the Dutch Occupational Health and Safety Act. The theatre opened at 9 am in the morning and closed at 3 am in the night. On Monday mornings everybody, from the cleaner to the director, gathered for the weekly meeting and afterwards they shared lunch. Then everybody started their work. It was the same for the performing artists and companies. The technical circumstances were not ideal, but you could play for a week or longer. And then there was the atmosphere, there was always a curious audience that was attracted by completely unknown celebrities. Afterwards they had a drink in the café to round off a wonderful evening.

This reunion is only for former artists and employees of Shaffy Theater. The programme is still a secret, but there will be music, images, and many opportunities to reminisce.

This reunion is part of the activities to celebrate the 230th anniversary of Felix Meritis and the foundation of Friends of Felix Meritis.
