The Van Swieten Society, the Ives Ensemble and the Asko Chamber Choir present the new concert series News from the Front in the oldest concert hall of the Netherlands.
The Ives Ensemble performs the opening concert with music by Luc Ferrari and Richard Rijnvos.
Two women are portrayed by these two composers. Luc Ferrari makes Aphrodite dance three dances; figuratively and almost literally exposing herself. In the words of the artist himself: "These are episodes from the life of an invisible woman. Aphrodite appeals to me, she is so far away that people cannot see her, but she is also so uninhibited; the inquisition burned her many times. And after that, she danced."

Richard Rijnvos makes a female singer live through one day in his music theatre piece Die Kammersangerin, 21 Lieder, 3 ohne Worte. The texts are written by Ernst Jandl.

Luc Ferrari (1929-2005) Les Emois d'Aphrodite (1986-1998) (Dutch premiere)
