Marlene van Niekerk: Agaat
The South African writer Marlene van Niekerk became widely known in the Netherlands with her novel Agaat (2004). Some reviewers see the story as a metaphor for the political relations in South Africa. A black woman takes care of a dying white woman and inherits all her possessions.
