LUX: Mirror
Dance performance in the monumental Concert Hall of Felix Meritis.
LUX, a brand-new experimental and interactive ensemble comprising a string quartet and three dancers, focuses on the combination of classical music and modern dance. Under artistic director Aafje Franken, LUX develops an innovative form in which all of the performers are a part of the choreography. The LUX musicians are members of the young Dutch Ragazze quartet.
Spiegel [Mirror] consists of two choreographies inspired by the Russian author Leo Tolstoy, who died 100 years ago. His world-famous works The Kreutzer Sonata and Anna Karenina are the basis of the two pieces. They are integrated with string quartets by Leos Janáček and Dmitri Shostakovich.
