Forum Lyon - A Soul for Europe
Working for 25 years in more than 30 countries across the world, the theatre company Image Aiguë conceives Europe today as its source of inspiration and artistic production. During its new performance Ici là-bas and under the French Presidency of the European Union, Image Aiguë is organizing the Forum Lyon - A Soul for Europe at the famous Théâtre des Célestins, a strong symbol of a free agora.
After Belgrade (March 2007, October 2008), Pécs (November 2007) and Skopje (April 2008), this will be the first time that an important Western European city will host the Forum debates. As at previous forums, topics will include the dialogue between political decision-makers and representatives of civil society on our basic concern: how to strengthen the cultural component of European development.
Invited panellists include: Catherine Lalumière, Maison de l'Europe de Paris; Jo Leinen, Member of the European Parliament; Patrick Bernard-Brunet, European Commission, DG REGIO; Ulrich Sacker, Goethe-Institut Berlin; Hannes Swoboda, MEP and A Soul for Europe Steering Committee; Fernando Navarro, Café Babel; Michaël Zeeman, author and journalist; Karl-Erik Norrman, European Cultural Parliament; Patrizio Bianchi, University of Ferrara; Andreas Richter, Mahler Chamber Orchestra; Hugo de Greef, Flagey cultural centre, Brussels; Susana Marques, Forum Porto; Christiane Véricel, Compagnie Image Aiguë; Patrick Penot, Théâtre des Célestins; Rarita Szakáts, AltArt Foundation, Cluj; Max Maldacker, Multilateral Cultural and Mediarelations, Cultural Programmes Federal Foreign Office; Gérard Collomb, Mayor of Lyon (to be confirmed); and Volker Hassemer, the initiative A Soul for Europe.
Moderator: Steve Austen, the initiative A Soul for Europe and Permanent Fellow Felix Meritis.
