Forum Italia: A Soul for Europe - Un’Anima per l’Europa
In the spirit of the pan-European initiative "A Soul for Europe" Forum Italia - "Un Anima per l'Europa - A Soul for Europe" is aimed to create a permanent platform that seeks to develop the "culture of democracy" by trying to improve the co-operation between (local, national and European) political decision-makers, civil society and other sectors of society as well as foster active citizenship and participation. The initiative is also working to harness more efficiently Europe's cultural strength in the process of building Europe and is focused on involving the younger generations in the "A Soul for Europe" Initiative.
Forum Italia - "Un Anima per l'Europa - A Soul for Europe" is an authentic civil society initiative and is not organized by associations, unions, governmental and administrative offices.
The Italian socio-cultural context lacks a transparent, efficient and effective co-operation among civil society and the political decision-makers at the local, national and European level. Furthermore, citizens and especially the younger generation feel more and more detached from political life and need to understand that European integration is not a "Brussels affair" in which citizens have no say. All this is evident in particular in southern part of the country. Forum Italia - "Un Anima per l'Europa - A Soul for Europe" is aimed to address and find solutions to these delicate issues.
