Felix & Music: The big christmas wish concert
The EnsembleCaméléon performed a special version of the Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky. The suite's major international dances were performed (Spanish, Arabian, Chinese and Russian) and accompanied by Arabian love poems read by Dutch actress Lidewij Mahler and readings of Russian folk stories.
In contrast to the romantic atmosphere of Tchaikovsky, contemporary composer Bart de Vrees presented his new work Four Interludes: On the Nature of Absence. EnsembleCaméléon's creative director and double bassist Wilmar de Visser describes the resulting concert experience as a 'cultural pastiche' (interview in Time Out Amsterdam, December 2010).
Music: Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Edward Grieg, Bart de Vrees and Mayke Nas.
Organised by four Amsterdam winners of the Kersjes Prize: Amstel Quartet, ZAPP String Quartet, Ruysdael Kwartet, and in collaboration with Felix Meritis, KAM Concerts Foundation and The Kersjes Fund.
