Felix Meritis lustrum series: The Big Christmas Wish Concert
Felix Meritis celebrates two anniversaries in 2008: The building has been in existence for 220 years, and the Felix Meritis society for 230 years. When the building was opened on 31 October 1787, the first activity of the society was an inaugural concert. For a hundred years there was a rich tradition of giving concerts in the Concert Hall. This tradition will be brought back to life. In each concert you will hear something of the rich musical life of the 18th century.
Programme:
Antonín Dvorák String quintet in E flat major, opus 97
Julius Röntgen Quartettino
Bohuslav Martinu Madrigal for violin and viola
A Bohemian Christmas story told by Annelien van Binsbergen (in Dutch)
Joris van Rijn and Sonja van Beek, violin; Joel Waterman and Joost Keizer, viola; Johan van Iersel, cello; Lidewij Mahler, narrator
This series is organized in cooperation with Stichting Kamermuziek Amsterdam and made possible by SNS REAAL Fund.
