Cultural collaboration with China
For positive and negative reasons, the eyes of the whole world are on China. The rapid economic growth and increasingly prominent role that China is assuming on the world stage provoke admiration, but there is also concern about the darker side of these developments. This meeting will examine the role that the Netherlands, and especially the Dutch cultural field, can play in countering the negative aspects and stimulating positive developments in China. Is it possible for a small country like the Netherlands to exert an influence on China, and if so, what is the best way to do so? What kinds of cultural cooperation projects are already under way between China and the Netherlands, how are they proceeding, and what are the (provisional) results?
