Cool It! The Skeptical Environmentalist’s Guide to Global Warming.
19th Globaliseringslezing by Bjørn Lomborg
Bjørn Lomborg was at Felix Meritis to discuss his new book Cool It. The Skeptical Environmentalist's Guide to Global Warming. Lomborg established the Copenhagen Consensus. He was attacked by the entire green movement when he critically reviewed existing dogmas about environmental policy. He continues on his course and advocates scientific considerations in order to arrive at effective solutions that will really benefit the poor of the world.
Once again Lomborg makes us reflect on ourselves: do we allow our emotions to run away with us in the debate on climate change? We need better solutions to reduce the greenhouse effect. Instead of well-intended but highly expensive efforts that only yield small results in the long term, we can do more at less expense and with more chance of success. Lomborg's priorities are the resolution of pressing problems in the world such as hunger, poverty and illness. "We must keep on reminding ourselves that our ultimate target is not to reduce greenhouse emissions or to do something about global warming, but to improve the quality of life and the environment. We want to leave the planet in a decent state for future generations".
