Café Mediterranée V: Artists in residence programmes in the Middle East and North Africa
In this edition of Café Mediterranée we will be zooming in on the role of artists-in-residence programmes in the Mediterranean and Arabic world. Cultural professionals from this region will focus on residency programs for the contemporary arts. The Townhouse Gallery in Cairo forms the starting point for a discussion on the goals and results of these programmes. From here on, other experiences within and outside of Egypt will be shared by our guests.
Special guests are: William Wells, director of the Townhouse Gallery, Egypt; Todd Lester, director of freeDimensional, developer of a network of residences in North Africa; Abdellah Karroum (to be confirmed), publisher, curator and artistic director of a residency in Rabat, Morocco and Mounira Al Solh, a Lebanese artist living and working in The Netherlands.
The meeting will be concluded by informal drinks.
In the Café Mediterranée series, Dare2Connect regularly invites professionals from the Middle East and North Africa to discuss cultural issues in the Arab and Islam world. Recent developments and current themes form the bases of the meetings.
