Café Mediterranée: The Freedom Theatre
Juliano Mer Khamis is head of the Freedom Theatre in the refugee camp of Jenin on the Westbank. His mother, Arna, founded the theatre but it was destroyed during the First Intifada in 2004. Juliano re-opened the theatre and consequently directed the documentary Arna's Children (2006) about her work in this theatre for children.
After his mother's passing away, he continues her work in the refugee camp and has set up a drama school, a multi-media learning centre and a high quality theatre group that tours a lot internationally. Moderator: Chris Keulemans.
Café Mediterranée is a serie of encounters with artists from the Mediterranean region and the Middle East.
