Actors, Agents and Attendants: Speculations on the Cultural Organisation of Civility
Two-days symposium on October 29 and 30
Speculations on the Cultural Organisation of Civility is the first symposium of the series of symposia Actors, Agents and Attendants. Reflecting on current debates about care and citizenship in contemporary art, philosophy and politics, this two-day event provides a platform to discuss progress and issues in these fields. Artists, curators, theorists, healthcare practitioners and the audience are invited to question and rethink the role of contemporary art in its ameliorative function.
The first day will address the issue of care as a political and philosophical concept, whereas the second day will focus on the artistic and curatorial responses to the politics of healthcare provision. Theories and case studies come hand in hand to provide a significant and radical overview of the subject. Prior and during the symposium, a series of events will also take place across the city, including expert meetings, art interventions and film screenings.
