31st Globalisation Lecture: Energy Risk, the evening that makes CancĂșn completely redundant!

Watch the video via Tegenlicht here

19.00 hrs  Documentary film
20.30 hrs Lecture and Debate

If we continue to exhaust our fossil fuels, we will be heading right for a worldwide energy crisis. That is no reason to throw in the towel or for defeatism. Two teams of students from Amsterdam University College will prove that things can be different. They provide the key to the United Nations Climate Change Conference that will commence in Cancún, Mexico on 29 November. We kill two birds with one stone: a sustainable future for the world and a chance for the present developing countries.

An expert jury will decide in public consultation with interventions from the floor which team has the best thought out proposal. At the end the public will decide the winner of the public prize. The jury includes Hugo von Meijenfeldt, who will be negotiating at the highest level in Cancún on behalf of the Dutch government. Also with: Lucia van Geuns (researchter energyprogramme Institute Clingendael), Karen Lagendijk (Director External Affairs & Sustainability Nuon) and Klaas van Egmond (Geo Sciences University of Utrecht). Presentation: Kees Vendrik

At 19:00 hrs the VPRO/Tegenlicht documentary Energy Risk will be screened, and there will be the opportunity to undergo the Submarine experience of the same name. You may also attend only the lecture and debate at 20.30 hrs.
